Windows is not finished yet

I sometimes hear that with the release of Windows Vista, Windows is more or less a finished product.

That would be so nice.

However, if this should be the case, Microsoft would lose a steady source of revenue. I would expect a company so focussed on profit as Microsoft to see this as something of a problem. I would expect them to find a solution, probably in the form of software rental instead of the current perpetual license model. Although Microsoft is clearly moving in that direction, it is not there yet.

Conclusion: Windows is not finished. In a few years time we’ll start to hear about the next version, that solves all the problems of that shoddy, obsolete, unsafe version of Windows called Vista. Now that will be the final version. Really.

Business as usual.

Who is the aggressor?

A recent piece of research told us that a quarter of the Dutch population supposedly has sexual problems. One of the points was that male sexual violence was more prevalent in higher educated couples. The researchers speculated about a sense of sexual entitlement among higher educated men.

I beg to differ. I think it more likely that higher educated men also tend to marry higher educated women. I strongly suspect a correlation between the educational level of a woman and feminist tendencies (academia especially is a hotbed of feminism). Could it be possible that the more feminist a woman is, the more she sees normal male sexual assertiveness as aggression, as per feminist theory? And is seeing your partner’s normal sexuality as inherently flawed not itself a form of aggression? Who is damaging who?

I think Noer was right. Feminism sucks.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster

An often used argument against the existence of God is the unlikelihood of the existence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The Wikipedia describes this creature as:

  • An invisible and undetectable Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe, including a mountain, trees and a midget.
  • All evidence for evolution was planted by the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The FSM tests Pastafarians’ faith by making things look older than they are (q.v. Omphalos).
  • The Pastafarian belief of heaven stresses two points. “A) It has beer volcanos as far as the eye can see & B) It has a stripper factory.”

This argument has always troubled me. I just found out why: The Flying Spaghetti Monster is an invention of the human mind, God could possibly be not. In the same way a chimp could never conceive of a symphony, or appreciate it, the human mind could never come up with something like God. God (if he/she/it exists) is in a different domain. The probability distributions between the earthly and heavenly domains need not be similar. We know that an earthly beast with acid for blood is most unlikely. We cannot be so certain about an alien one.

Simply put: God is transcendent, the Easter Bunny is not.

Why women are not oppressed in the West

It is often said in the popular media that women are “oppressed”. At the same time various publications bemoan the fact that women can’t find “good men” anymore.

If we combine these two phenomena with the supposition that women are hypergamous we come to an interesting contradiction: If women are looking for men with higher status than themselves and can’t find enough of them, especially at the higher levels, that would mean that the average status of women is higher than that of men (I’m assuming a Bell-curve distribution of status). If women are oppressed, however, one would expect women’s status to be lower on average.

Conclusion: women are not oppressed in modern Western society.

Young people in developed countries unhappy

Young people in developed countries unhappy

From the article:

Indians are the happiest overall and Japanese the most miserable.

Interesting that young people in a very patriarchal culture are the happiest, while young people in a culture with very feminine values are the most miserable.

MTVNI said this figure was dragged down by young people in the developed world, including those in Britain and the United States where fewer than 30 percent of young people said they were happy with the way things were.

Two of the most feminist (if not the most feminist) nations in the West. Strange that the article doesn’t mention that, isn’t it?

Also noteworthy is the inability of people to properly assess risk. People in the UK are as afraid of terrorism as of getting cancer. This gives the media, the ruling class and pressure groups inordinate power to manipulate the masses by playing to their fears. One wonders whether commercial media improve this situation.

Feminists are never satisfied

Female emancipation in the Netherlands could still be better

Never mind reading the article. It’s the same old bull, “women are not equal enough, boohoo”. It’s never enough with these feminists. If all women were princesses and all men garbagemen they’d still claim oppression.

They “know” women aren’t emancipated enough because they asked them. Of course, if a woman says she is not equal then that must be true. Women never lie, exaggerate, distort or obfuscate. Neither are they ever one-sided, chauvinistic, ill-informed or selective. And they’re absolutely never, ever wrong.

Quality research like this deserves the front page of one of the most-read websites in the Netherlands. That goes without saying.

The world is broken indeed. Corruption reigns. The Princess of Lies rides freely.

Sigh. I need a round of Doom. And a whiskey.

Marriage as anaphrodisiac

Passion dies ‘as soon as a woman is sure of her man’

Just take a look at the graph, it tells all. And this is called heterosexual ‘love’? For some reason I have to think of the inscription on the One Ring:

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Also, take a look at the female comments. Blame-shifting, denial, not-me-ism, ignorance and lack of empathy. The last comment, by a textbook mangina, is priceless. Only a slave is lovable.

If research found men showing little or no interest in essential female emotional needs, this would be seen as an indignity. Why the sudden silence, by both women and men, when male (sexual) needs are at stake?

As far as I’m concerned, with regard to marriage, women either shape up or ship out.

Foreign brides

I have noticed that in discussions about the phenomenon of men seeking foreign brides, some people, especially women, react very negatively. Often very emotionally. Comments are made that ‘these men must be losers’ and ‘you can’t deal with strong and successful women’.

This tends to piss me of to no end.

If Western women are so wonderful, as they themselves seem to think, then why are there not more foreign men coming to these lands to marry them? Why is it that the market value of modern Western man is so much higher than that of modern Western woman? Could it be that the world has more common sense than our femdiseased culture?

I’m quite willing to spend thousands of euros to find a wife that will not abandon me for the wrong reasons, and will work with me as a team. I think it’s a good investment. A divorce can cost a lot more, and I’m not just talking about money.

And if the ladies feel threatened, let them try to do something about their evil sisters instead of blaming men. It’s the rotten apples that spoil the bunch.

Bad news for feminists: men won’t die out anytime soon

Some time ago feminists rejoiced in the impending destruction of the male race (see e.g. this article). However, recent research seems to indicate those pesky males will be around a lot longer than expected.

Comparing chimp and human DNA, scientists at Howard Hughes Medical Institute have found that the human Y-chromosome has found a way to stabilize itself since the two species split, about 6 million years ago. This isn’t intuitive, since the Y-chromosome, unlike other chromosomes, cannot repair itself by swapping genes with it’s maternal counterpart.

Instead, natural selection has somehow preserved the functional integrity of the human Y-chromosome. A mechanism for this could be the existence of many palindromes in the Y-chromosome, sequences that read the same backward as forward, thereby providing a backup for the genes residing in these regions. One could say that the Y-chromosome has sex with itself. More bad news for the feminists…
